The Springer is a friendly dog that is quick to learn and eager to please. His long ears, soft gentle expression, sturdy build and friendly wagging tail mark him unmistakably a member of the family of spaniels. Springers are athletic, have great endurance and generally have a great attitude.

The Springer is a medium size dog 19-20 inches at the shoulder and weighing 49-55 lbs.

Color is black or liver with white markings, white with black or liver markings, tricolor (black and white or liver and white with tan markings) blue or liver roan. Lemon or orange is penalized as it is not an acceptable color.

The coat is of medium length on the body with longer hair on the skirt and feathering on the back side of the legs. Springers need daily brushing to keep them looking great. Trimming is also required for the head, body and feet. Springers do shed.
